Choosing electives for next yearDear Parent,
How does your son/daughter choose the elective courses that he/she is going to take each year? Does he/she consider what he/she would like to do in life and select courses that will prepare him/her for a bright future? Well, what if I told you that Lewis Palmer offers courses that are fun, interesting, and exciting, while at the same time prepare students for college and a successful career? Would you and your child be interested?
Marketing and Management & Entrepreneurship are two courses that will provide your child with valuable knowledge and skills that he/she will use in any career. These courses cover key topics such as sales, advertising, economics, pricing, management, market research, and business development. Students learn marketing through fun, realistic activities such as role-playing the sale of a product with a classmate, conducting a student taste test and survey, developing print advertisements for real products, and even planning their own business. College credit from Pikes Peak Community College is earned by all students that complete each course with a grade of B or above.
Would your son/daughter be interested in a club that is fun, teaches them valuable skills, and doesn’t require before or after school time? If so, they’ll love DECA, the co-curricular national student organization that all Marketing and Management & Entrepreneurship students are eligible to join. DECA members meet new people, travel to conferences and competitions, and take part in fun activities, such as mystery trips, pizza parties, dances, bowling nights, and more. Through DECA competitions, students develop the essential problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills needed for a career. DECA competitions are exciting and fun, and are prepared for in class. Not only does DECA look fantastic on a resume or college application, but DECA members can even earn a varsity letter!
Encourage your son/daughter to make the right choice and choose an elective that he/she enjoy and will prepare him/her for a bright future. Have him/her enroll in Marketing or Management & Entrepreneurship for next year!!
